The Villa
Tucked away in the Tuscan hillside not far from the cultural centres of Florence and Siena, Borgo Santo Pietro was lovingly restaured: a thirteenth century villa and its 13 acres of enchanting gardens, with a vision to create a bespoke, luxury private retreat.
A resting place for pilgrims en route to Rome 800 years ago, this ancient site continues to provide sanctuary to our guests today. Elegant and sympathetically designed interiors and grounds provide the perfect setting for you to experience sheer indulgence.

The Villa – Rooms
All of the rooms at Borgo Santo Pietro are unique and have been lovingly created to reflect authentic luxurious Italian style. Antiques, silks and tapestries sit alongside hand-painted murals, ornate plasterwork and magnificent beds. All ensuite bathrooms are opulent, yet comfortable and additionally some rooms have free-standing baths within the main sleeping areas.
Each room provides a seating area where guests can read, contemplate or enjoy a pre-dinner drink or breakfast. Fires can be lit upon demand and in spite of the rooms´baroque sentiments they are all equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and climate controls, plasma screen televisions, dvd players, ipods with docking stations and wireless internet connections. Televisions are discreetly concealed so that guests can focus on relaxation and nature should they so wish.
Every room has a view to remember ant their individual style gives guests the sense of staying at an exclusive, ancient country villa.

The fresh water pool has been designed to seamlessly blend into the beautiful landscape providing a truly carefree and tranquil spot to soak up the surrounding views.
Grounds - Vegetable & Herb Gardens
Herbs, spices and vegetables from our working estate are used in the recipes and remedies – cultivated on the day, every day, for ultimate freshness. Most of the ingredients the chefs use are the fruits of our good position and climate, grown organically in the abundant vegetable garden. The gardeners will doubtless be tending the crops and can tell you everything you need to know about what grows in Tuscany.

The sight and smell experience of walking around the gardens has been thought out by an award-winning garden designer. They are yours to explore. Wander around the scented rose garden outside the piano room and see where your senses take you.
History
Borgo Santo Pietro has welcomed guests since the early part of the 13th century when it was a small community built around the church where it gets its name – the Ecclesia di San Pietro.
Throughout the year, travellers from England and all over Europe would stop here to rest and recover physically and spiritually before they continued their pilgrimage to Rome. Everyone who stayed at Borgo Santo Pietro was served bread from a massive brick oven. The top of the oven was also used by residents for drying and preserving chestnuts, figs, etc. This oven is still used today for baking bread and pizza on special Tuscan cooking experience days.
Pilgrims and residents attended worship services in the church until 1252 when it was sold to the Abbey of San Galgano. As a result, the church´s façade was torn down, and transported to the abbey, stone by stone. In 1283 Borgo Santo Pietro became a “village” and was then referred to as Villa Santo Pietro.

A casual approach has been taken to ensure our guests feel at home. Served in an open plan kitchen our chefs are on hand tc cook exactly what you went, how you want it and when you want it.

The fine dining is served at lunch and dinner either in the relaxed, atmospheric environment of the dining room or out ir the harmony of the charming gardens where your every need and preference will be catered for by our expert staff.

The wine collection is quite unique in vintage and selection. It includes options from around the world, naturally it reflects that we are less than an hour away from several world-famous vineyards. The sommelier will happily help you choose the perfect wine to complement your meal.
